What should an Operator Advisory System do?.
1. Allow operators to remain focused on the situation.
2. Give operators time to analyse the situtaion.
3. Distinguish between false, nuisance, repeating and real alarms.
4. Provide prioritisation of important alarms (relevance, intervention time, critical to safety etc)
5. Identify the root cause of an alarm.
6.Provide an early warning of upsets.
7. Provide a guide to the reason for the alarm and how to respond to them.
8. Suppress alarms that are a direct consequence of other alarms.
